Description
Lugarti’s top - notch substrate for millipedes and isopods is a unique mix of sphagnum peat moss, organic compost, oak leaf debris, ground sphagnum moss, seasoned wood, ultra - fine sand, and clay. This substrate is carefully formulated to create ideal burrowing conditions, offer high nutritional value, and can serve as the main food source for your millipedes and isopods.
For added benefits, it's a great idea to scatter lightweight bark, branches, and leaf litter on top of the substrate. These additions offer extra safety, more climbing areas, and additional nutritious food sources.
When using this substrate, pour it into a suitable enclosure, making sure to provide an appropriate depth for your millipedes or isopods. Usually, a deeper layer is better as it retains humidity well and lasts longer. Never let the substrate dry out. Add more substrate when the level gets low, and replace it completely when you notice a lot of waste on the surface. Be gentle around molting creatures and keep the old substrate for a couple of months to avoid discarding any eggs. Also, always remove any uneaten added food within 24 hours to prevent attracting unwanted bugs.
Using this substrate is easy. First, pour it into a proper enclosure. Make sure to give enough depth for your millipedes or isopods - generally, deeper is better. This helps hold humidity and lasts longer. Remember, you must never let the substrate dry out. If the substrate level gets low, just add more. When you see a lot of waste on the surface, it's time to replace the whole thing.
Be careful when there are creatures molting. Don't disturb them. And save the old substrate for a couple of months. There might be eggs in it, and you don't want to throw them away.
It's a good idea to put lightweight bark, branches, and leaf litter on top of the substrate. This gives your millipedes and isopods more places to climb and extra food. But always remove any uneaten food within 24 hours. This way, you won't attract unwanted pests.
